Open Wheel Modifieds

Twelve cars took to the track for the 15-lap feature event with Tim Sigmon and Manuel Johnson bringing the field to the green flag.  Competition was tight as cars went three wide coming off of turn two.  On the third lap, Johnson cut his car too hard heading into turn one and ground to a halt, bringing out the caution as everyone behind him scrambled to get by unscathed.  Sigmon led the restart, Bucky Gregory on his tail with Danny Bohn and Taylor Cook battling hard for third.  But it was Kris Dunlap that put on a clinic, charging from fifth to third in one lap.  Kyle Strickler, who started shotgun on the field by virtue of his three straight previous wins, was now in the hunt as he and Dunlap put on a serious show for the fans lap after lap.  At the halfway flag, the caution flew for a shock absorber lying in the racing groove off of turn two.  Sigmon once again led the field down for the restart, but was quickly knocked out of the box by Strickler, taking advantage of Gregory and Dunlap knocking into one another.  After another quick caution, Strickler stole the lead from Sigmon as two separate incidents lit up the track in two places with a total of five cars involved.  Once the mess was cleaned up, Strickler set sail, winning the feature event, followed to the line by Sigmon, Gregory, Dunlap and Taylor Cook rounding out the top-five finishers on the night.

Super Stock Fours

Restarts were the order of the night as time and time again, cautions flew due to the unbridled action on the track.  Brad Williams and Gary Fioramanti led the field to the green.  The No. 88 car of Randy Powell shoved his way from third to first on the first lap and kept an iron grip on the lead.  The No. 21 car of Steve Ritch followed Powell and settled into second place in the early laps.  At the halfway point restart, it was Powell, Ritch and a surging Jason Sitterly in the No. 30 car.  Sitterly gave Ritch all he could handle lap after lap, but neither had an answer for Powell, who cruised to the victory.  He was followed to the line by Ritch, Sitterly, Jennings Herman and Brian Nuhfer rounded out the top-five finishers.

Stock Fours

Pit crews stayed busy during the stock four feature, as several teams changed flat tires in the pits and got their cars back into the event without losing a lap.  There was also a lot of attrition in the ranks.  Dylan O’Daniel and Logan Sparks led the field of 14 cars to the line to take the green flag.  Logan grabbed the lead away from O’Daniel in the first turn, but spun out by himself just three laps later while leading.  On a lap eight restart, O’Daniel led the field down and A.J. Paladino stole second place from Wayne Curtis.  After the next caution, everyone got anxious as Curtis and Paladino both jumped the start on O’Daniel.  After everything settled down the next time around, it was O’Daniel, Paladino, Hank Kiefer, Lee Oiler and Alex DiPietro running to the finish in a line.  DiPietro passed Paladino at the line for second, but it was Dylan O’Daniel celebrating in Victory Lane.

Mini-Sprints

The fastest division at East Lincoln Speedway lived up to its name on Saturday night as the Mini-Sprints took to the track to battle in out in their 15-lap feature.  Jake McLain and Robert Clements led the field to the line, with Clements passing McClain for the lead in turn one.  The No. 111 of Terry Peters joined the hunt, settling into third place.  Clements had a scary moment at the halfway point as the No. 11B of George Blaney got loose trying to avoid going a lap down.  Clements drove through it and went on to cruise to victory.  Peters grabbed second, followed by Justin Linerman, Brian Roseman and Darren Hasty rounded out the top-five finishers.

Limited Sportsman

Eleven cars showed up for the 15-lap feature race with Chris Stowe and Ronnie White leading the field to the green flag.  In a wild first lap, White passed Stowe, and then Brandon White took the point.  Jeff Parson then snuck up and stole third place from Stowe.  White spun while leading bringing out the caution flag.  On the restart it was Ronnie White, Jeff Parsons and Chris Stowe.  Just three laps later, a frightening accident occurred when Stowe, Chris Smith and Keller got tangled up coming off of turn two.  Stowe clobbered the inside wall, but Chris Smith got the worst end of the deal.  Smith was hit in the rear tire, breaking his axle and sending his No. 83 car up and over onto its side with a right rear tire dangling in the air.  After a tense moment, all drivers were reported OK and out of their cars.  After the clean up, the green flag waved again with Ronnie White, Jeff Parsons and Keith Bowman running one-two-three.  Parson mounted a furious charge for the lead, but Ronnie White held serve and won the feature.

Renegades

The Renegades used up every inch of the race track on Saturday night, with drivers trying any and all lines around the track in search of a few more feet and another position.  Jamie Major and Luther Bishop led the field of thirteen cars at the start.  When Major came up on a lapped car just four laps into the race, he was effectively blocked in.  Luther Bishop made him pay, cutting to the inside to take the lead.  Major stormed back and retook the lead one lap later in turn three.  After a caution for a spin, Bishop got back inside Major and drove into the lead.  Not only that, he took his brother Billy Bishop along for the pass and Aaron Webb, Mark Woody and Tyler Hyatt also took advantage.  With the Bishop Brothers leading the way, a furious battle erupted for third between Woody and Webb.  On lap nine, Mark Woody developed a problem and slowed dramatically on the frontstretch.  Two cars dodged Woody, but Major drove into the rear of Woody like he never saw him.  Both cars were severely damaged and went off the track to the pits.    With lightning flashing in the sky in turns three and four, the Bishop Brothers took the point again on the restart.  With just a couple of laps to go the No. 7 car of Mike Lowe got loose in front of Billy Bishop and when Aaron Webb tried to take advantage, he ended up riding the infield fence on the backstretch.  Nothing could stop the Bishop Brothers one-two finish tonight, with Luther taking the win and Billy following in his tire tracks.  Tyler Hyatt and Kenny Willett survived to bring up the rear.

Renegades Stampede Event

The final event of the night couldn’t have come sooner for the weather, as rain drops started to fall just as the field of cars took the green flag in the big money event of the night.  Todd Bohn took an early lead and when Aaron Webb tried to press the issue, he ended up riding the infield fence on the frontstretch wall. Billy Bishop passed Bohn and Steve Newsome to take the lead at the line on the half way lap.  Luther quickly followed suit and once again the Bishop Brothers were running one-two.  With just two laps to go, Luther passed Billy for the lead and never looked back, collecting a bonus for winning both Renegade Feature Events.
